Unboxing: OwlCrate Feburary 2017

Guess what came in the mail today?!? As you can probably tell from the title, it’s this month’s OwlCrate! This is my first time to get OwlCrate and I was SUPER happy with this box.

The theme this month was Run Away With The Circus.

The first thing we got was this FREAKIN’ AWESOME mini candle from Frostbeard Studio. I’ve been wanting a candle from them for FOREVER and was stoked to get one in my box. It’s scent is “Le Cirque Des Reves”, AKA The Night Circus, and it smells like roasted chestnuts and caramel corn.

It smells amazballs.

The box also included a coupon code for the Frostbeard Studio shop which I will most definitely be using in the near future.

The next thing in the box is lip balm from Geek Fire Labs. It is Midway Mini Donut flavored which is super interesting (I’ve NEVER had a lip balm that tasted like that) and delicious.

The next is a playing card mini notebook from Attic Journals. Attic Journals takes old books and makes them new again by turning them into journals. The mini journal is made out of actual playing cards from casinos (in my case Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, OR) and has about 75 pages of unlined paper.

Like with Frostbeard Studio, Attic Journals provided a coupon for OwlCrate subscribers.

The next thing we received are page flags from Girl of All Work. Like everything else in the box they are circus themed and are super cute! I am really excited to get these because I’ve been wanting some for school and for doing my book reviews. SCORE!

And the last thing before we get into the book is this awesome tote from Evie Seo, AKA Evie Bookish. It features a quote from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and is absolutely gorgeous. I love all of Evie’s stuff and I’m excited to get something from her in this month’s box.

It also makes an awesome background for pictures. 😉

And finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The book this month is Caraval by Stephanie Garber! I have heard nothing but good things about this book and I’m really excited to read it.

Here is the official description from the back:

“Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.”

Sounds pretty interesting right??

Not only did we get the book but we also got a SIGNED bookplate by Stephanie Garber herself! How cool is that! I totally stuck it to the inside of my book – like a cool kid.

That is everything that was in this month’s OwlCrate! I really enjoyed it and I wasn’t disappointed with a single thing in the box.

Do any of you get OwlCrate? What did you guys think of this month’s box? Are you excited to read Caraval? Let me know what you think!
